Dear Family,
I have been thinking a lot about family lately, and what word means, and
What the concept implies with us as a church family. The word family is
defined as relations, relatives, etc. but I truly believe as a church,
we are a
family. Family in a church is not based on blood or relativity to one’s
genealogy. Family is scripturally defined as koinonia, which is defined
as a
community or fellowship created by the Holy Spirit. As a Christian
family
we share a bond that is much stronger than blood or genealogy, we share
the same heavenly Father, who has given us the Holy Spirit. And with
that
comes the desire to serve and reach out to one another. An
attitude is born that is not focused on self and what one can gain, but
instead on others and what can be given.
As a look at the family that God has created through our fellowship I
believe that we are pressing hard after true fellowship, true
partnership,
vibrant love and belonging. I see you reflecting Jesus to others in so
many
wonderful ways. I am so thankful for your examples, and when I grow up I
want to be just like you, because you sure are looking a lot like Jesus.
Thankfully,
Pastor Tom
